Zunheboto, November 5 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio today inaugurated the Zunheboto Multi Purpose Hall.
While addressing the gathering at the inauguration programme, the CM said that Zunheboto is known as the land of warriors and urged upon the people of Zunheboto to be the warriors of peace. He further stated that while earlier it was thought that “might is right,” civilisation today holds that “right is might.”
He further called upon the people to do away with individualism, ‘villagism,’ tribalism and to be patriotic, while coming together under ‘Nagaism.’
Meanwhile, the CM said that games and sports teach people discipline and team spirit and therefore urged upon the sports persons to make a strong community with the building having been completed. He reminded that the Indian Government has accepted the uniqueness of Nagas and that even during the Bristish rule Naga traditions were left untouched.
KT Sukhalu, Advisor for School Education while speaking in the event informed that Rs 2 crore was initially allotted, out of which Rs 60 lakh for land was used and Rs 60 lakh more was allotted due to fund deficiency. He added when the CM was approached, another one crore was allotted which made the completion of the building successful.
Meanwhile Sukhalu also spoke of the town’s long standing need for land for a cemetery. He urged the citizens of Zunheboto to set up a committee and called upon the churches to cooperate in this. He further appealed to the CM to give special attention to the circuit house building.
G Kaito Aye, Minister for Agriculture informed the gathering that the legislators have come together to address the Naga Political issue, and called upon the people of Zunheboto to see that they come together as well on this.
I Nikheto Jimomi, President, Sumi Hoho lauded the CM for his initiatives in Zunheboto district, while highlighting that under the CM’s chairmanship several actions have been taken including purchases of land was made for supply godown costing Rs 70 lakh, land compensation at Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu costing Rs 2.78 crore, Zunheboto town graveyard costing Rs 66.78 lakh, land extension for Zunheboto Government College costing Rs 25 lakh and multipurpose hall costing Rs 60 lakh, besides other developments.
The Sumi Hoho President meanwhile urged the authority to take measures to introduce degree courses at the Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu at the earliest time and if possible in the upcoming academic session.
President, NDPP Zunheboto region and member of the construction committee presented the multi propose hall report. He informed that the building was constructed under the Tribal Affairs Department with an amount of Rs 3 crore, acquiring the land from Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto.
Earlier the dedication prayer was done by Dr Hutton Sumi, Pastor, SBCZ and the CM unveiled the monolith. The District Band Zunheboto presented a special number and special appearance was made by Naga Kheks on behalf of TAFMA District Partner Zunheboto. Vote of thanks was proposed by Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS, DC Zunheboto and benediction was pronounced by Rev Dr Daniel Chishi, Pastor, ZTSBC.
