Health Minister Pangnyu Phom appeals
Dimapur, May 16 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom appealed citizens of the state to cooperate and support the government during the course of lockdown.
“I truly understand the inconvenience that the citizens will undergo during the course of lockdown. However, it is pertinent to mention that the decision was taken after considering the health safety of our people. Now, it is the responsibility of all the concerned citizens to help the Government, the Department of Health & Family Welfare and frontline workers to cooperate in this battle against the pandemic,” he said on Saturday.
The minister stated that while the first wave was effectively managed through collective efforts, “We must all understand that the COVID-I9 will remain the new normal.”
“All the citizens must act responsibly as we continue to battle the pandemic. We must observe COVID appropriate behaviours and take COVID-19 vaccination to protect oneself as well as our loved ones, family, co-workers and community,” he added.
He urged the citizens who are showing influenza-like illnesses to come forward for testing and also to cooperate with surveillance teams in contact tracing. “Our front line workers are sacrificing everything and putting their own lives and their families at risk for the sake of saving lives of others and they need our utmost cooperation and support,” he underscored, while urging the citizens to cooperate with the COVID-19 warriors in all possible ways.
“Let us all continue to pray and seek God’s divine intervention and heal our land sooner than later,” he added.
