The two day long 75th anniversary celebration of Kiitsapo Baptist Church (KBC) concluded today at Kiitsapo village in Phek district under the theme “Proclaim God’s Faithfulness.”

Speaking at the anniversary worship service, Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, general secretary, Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), said “As we celebrate his faithfulness, we must pass on the legacy of our faith to the next generation so that they will celebrate God’s faithfulness in their generation.

“Our topic ‘Proclaim God’s Faithfulness’ calls for three things- We must stay true to the gospel and to our faith. The church must become a place of healing, prayer and mending broken relationship. The sanctity of the church must not be compromised. We must guard our faith with the truth of God’s Word,” he exhorted.

“We must strengthen our church and our congregation to reach out to the world outside of us. We cannot be complacent with our celebration. We must lengthen our cord. We must strengthen our stake and reach out. The church must be externally focused,” he further stated.

“Celebrate the triumph of the gospel’

Keyho also reminded that celebration of anniversary is a time to look back to the past and walk through the memory lane and reflect upon what God has done in the life of the church.

He said that Kiitsapo Baptist Church has reached a mile stone in the life of the church.

“The church belongs to God and we are given the opportunity to be part of an institution God has established for his people. Our part and our role is to see that we do church according to God’s way. We must put our leadership and the way we do church in consonant with the will and purpose of God,” he said.

Describing KBC becoming 75 year old as an achievement, Keyho said “The gospel coming to our land was not easy. It was a sacrifice of comfort and convenience on the part of those who brought goodness to us. They did so because they believe that God has not only called them to believe but also take the gospel to people who have never heard the gospel.”

He claimed that the pioneers faced much opposition and went through much persecution but they never gave up because they have tasted the goodness of God. God has been faithful to them in all those hard times. And therefore, we are here today celebrating jubilees and anniversaries to exalt God and celebrate the triumph of the gospel, he said.

Earlier, KBC pastor Kuzhohiito Rhakho led the service while welcome address was delivered by Kiipota Khesoh, convenor finance committee

The celebration witnessed special praise from Youth Choir Phek Town Baptist Church and Anniversary Choir.
The service also witnessed declaration of commitment, prayer of blessings by Chekhiithiyi Vese, KBC advisor.
