Chuchuyimlang, March 2 (MExN): The Chuchuyimlang Village, under the leadership of its Village Council, has made progress in protecting its Community Reserve Forest. In August 2023, an area of 200 hectares was notified as a Community Reserve under the Wildlife Protection Act (WLPA) of 1972. Since then, the Community Reserve Committee has been sensitising the communities about the importance of flora and fauna.
During Wildlife Week 2024, the villagers, under the Village Council Chairman Aosanen Pongen, reaffirmed their commitment to a total ban on hunting within the jurisdiction, stated a press release received here.

The Chuchuyimlang Community Reserve Committee, chairperson Putusanen has stated that the Village has been working in collaboration with the Wildlife Division, Dimapur, under the ‘Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitat’ scheme.
In a move to integrate conservation with livelihood opportunities, a total of 800 numbers of 14 day old vaccinated chicks (BV-380) along with feeds and medicine were distributed to the women SHGs in the village in the presence of the village Council Chairman and various stakeholders on March 1.
This initiative underscores the belief that conservation efforts must go hand in hand with livelihood support to ensure sustainable development.
