Kohima, May 25 (MExN): Reiterating an earlier stand that “talks for Nagaland have concluded,” between the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and the Government of India (GoI), NPCC President, K Therie today alleged that the State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) “are not prepared for solution yet.”

“They have never told the Union Government go ahead with settlement,” the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President asserted in a press release, adding that there is any settlement, it would be “because of the pressure of the people and the Congress.”

‘We have made our stand very clear to RN Ravi, the then Interlocutor and GOI,’ he informed.

Justifying the same, the NPCC maintained that State Government is clear that the “people of Nagaland want to implement the Agreed Position of the Working Committee of NNPGs.”

“They also know the Framework Agreement (FA) has ruled out sovereignty and integration. Therefore, talks for Nagaland have concluded,” he said.

“The FA will have no impact with Nagaland State by the detailed arrangement that needs to come from both the parties – GOI and NSCN (IM) as per the last paragraph of FA, since we have rejected Pan Naga Hoho,” he added.

Against this backdrop, the NPCC President asserted that former CM and Governor, Dr SC Jamir stated what ‘should have been spoken by Chief Minister Nagaland.’

‘I am told the Chief Minister of Manipur in the presence of NPF Minister who supports BJP in Manipur, has expressed, nothing can be given,’ he maintained, adding that preceding CMs of “Manipur had also made it clear that not even an inch of land will be parted with.”

“Manipur peoples’ Govt surely deserves respect in democracy and since NPF is also a part of Manipur peoples Govt, it reflects NSCN (IM) too,” he added.

He further alleged that the NSCN (IM) has “failed 25 years in the same class” – an intellectual failure and wondered whether we should “continue to pay tuition fees.”

Therie further contended that he found CM Rio “lacking in courage and wisdom to bring settlement” despite being elected Leader of the House and Chief Minister for almost 20 years.

The CM cannot reason with GOI or NSCN (IM) leaders to solve the problem, he alleged.

The NPCC President further said that he (Rio) is certainly under pressure with BJP doing everything to “humiliate him,” but added that the CM would do “everything possible” to save his alliance with the BJP.

He further noted that while BJP Central leaders’ called for “Election for Solution” in 2018, NSCN (IM) demanded ‘Solution not Election.’

“Both indicated wanting solution and now another five-year term is about end with no opening or clarity,” he added, noting that they have the “art of betraying and delaying.”

Accordingly, he reiterated ‘talks for Nagaland’ have concluded.
