Nagaland’s higher education and tribal affairs minister Temjen Imna Along today stressed on the need to build a new, strong and vibrant Nagaland.
Stating that times are changing and the people of Nagaland are going through a certain threshold: politically, traditionally, socially, and economically, he said “We have to build a new Nagaland, a strong Nagaland, a vibrant Nagaland.”
Speaking at the annual conference of the Government College Principals of Nagaland under the department of higher education in Kohima, he lamented that despite Nagaland being a literate state, the state has a very low Human Development Index and an unemployment problem among many other problems.
The minister said that today, Nagaland is one of the most literate states in the country.
He stressed the need to turn the human capital resources into assets of the state.
A time has come to convert the human resource capital into economic strength of the state, he said.
The minister said that the department of higher education has taken forth its journey of building the lives of many students who are the human resource capital of the state.
He lauded the commitment of the teachers, ministerial staff and the directorate for giving the best human resource for the state of Nagaland and for the nation.
He urged the principals and educators to evolve to make “our human capital holistically vibrant” not only oriented towards government jobs but bringing the right vocational studies, encourage the students to venture out, identify their skills and give them opportunity to grow.
