Kohima, March 12 (MExN): An alleged break-in attempt was made with the probable motive of burglary at the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, Kohima, on the intervening night of March 10 and 11.

A press release from the PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, informed that the incident was discovered when the clinic opened at its scheduled time on Tuesday morning.

The rear window of the dental section was found forcibly broken, while two sets of footprints were observed on the dental stool and the dental chair, it added.

The footprints suggest that more than one individual had forcibly entered the premises with malicious intent, the release stated. The PRO further informed that an FIR has been registered with the South Police Station, Kohima, and an investigation is underway.

The medical facility for ex-servicemen, located opposite the Heritage Hotel on Raj Bhavan Road, Officers’ Hill Colony, provides frontline medical care to veterans of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Assam Rifles from Kohima and adjoining areas.

“Such an act of robbery or vandalism at a critical healthcare facility poses a severe risk of disrupting essential healthcare services for those who have selflessly served our nation,” it added.
