DIMAPUR, JULY 8 (MExN): With an aim to recognise the significance of rainwater harvesting and to augment the PM’s Jal Shakti Mission, the Assam Rifles took a an initiative to educate and empower the local population through an awareness lecture on rain harvesting techniques.
The lecture covered the concept of rainwater harvesting, highlighting its importance in addressing water scarcity, promoting sustainable agriculture and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change. They also showcased various techniques and methods that could be easily implemented in homes and community spaces to collect, store, and utilize rainwater effectively.
The participants were educated about the different components of a rainwater harvesting system, such as catchment areas, gutters, filters, storage tanks, and recharge pits. They were shown practical demonstrations and illustrations, enabling them to grasp the concepts more efficiently.
