‘Allow spirit of brotherhood to unite Nagas’

DIMAPUR, October 24: Advisor, sericulture, excise and minority affairs, Zhaleo Rio while asserting the need for unity amongst the Nagas said the people should allow the “spirit of brotherhood” to unite the Nagas.

He was speaking as the special guest of Health & Wellness Centre (Dispensary) Nihokhu Village 50th anniversary celebration Saturday, informed NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C media secretary, Thejangukho Yalietsu in a press release.

Commenting on the recent “brotherhood” venture of the Angami, Chakhesang and Sumi youths, Zheleo said, “We must help, contribute, share and also strengthen one another to allow the spirit of brotherhood unite all Nagas in general”.

Terming “ism” as the “greatest enemy” of the Nagas, Zheleo asserted the need to eradicate “ism” from the roots so that peace and unity may prevail to usher in progress and all-round development.

The advisor also acknowledged the unflinching efforts of head GB and colleagues of Nihokhu which he said was a stellar example for others, especially individuals who sacrificed their land for the welfare of the villagers.

“It is a challenge as well as encouragement to the concerned government department for initiation of further action”, he added and pledged his 100% commitment to expedite procedures towards upgradation of the health centre.

On the COVID-19 pandemic, Zhaleo urged everyone to acquire COVID vaccination which was “solely for prevention against the disease and not to cure a patient”.

He reminded that people must always follow the given protocols or SoPs because the disease “has come to stay with us”.

The commemoration programme was chaired by Jolly Zhimomi while head GB, Er. Ahoto Zhimomi gave the introductory speech; chairman, Ato Area GBs Association, Hozheto Yepthomi and community health officer, Liyinbeni delivered short speeches; special numbers were presented by Children’s choir and a male voice by Nihokhu villagers; chairman jubilee planning board David Zhimomi delivered the vote of thanks while cultural troupes from Nihokhu and Nikhekhu presented dances. Earlier, Rev. Pastor Luhevi Zhimomi, Nihokhu Baptist Church, dedicated the 50 years commemoration plague through blessings and prayer and the advisor unveiled the commemorative plague.
