AHMs/JEOs called to work towards building better future

In a bid to acquaint the newly promoted Assistant Head Masters (AHMs) and Junior Education Officers (JEOs) of Nagaland on office procedure, the state’s Department of School Education has designed three-day in-house training at the Directorate of School Education, Kohima.

Addressing the inaugural session here this morning, Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary for School Education and SCERT, Nagaland called upon the trainees of the newly promoted AHMs/JEOs to passionately work towards building a better future for children and the state.

Reminding that education is the backbone of the society and teachers are the builder of the future, she said, “As moulder of the future, as managers of the school, as administrators of the school, we believe that you will be able to deliver.” Stating that they would face challenges in their journey, she said, “if we all come together, we will be able to tackle those challenges.”

 

 

 

“We talk about infrastructure development, development in all sectors. But if our human resource is not developed, what is the purpose of all those infrastructure development,” she said. “We should be able to nurture. We should be able to build the people, the children, who will be responsible citizens and not liability to the state,” she added.

Reminding the officers and teachers of the department about their responsibility as educators, as education managers and administrators, she stressed on the need to increase the level of leadership in school administration to take the government schools forward.

“With the promotion, the responsibility of providing academic and administrative leadership also comes,” she told the newly promoted AHMs/JEOs.

 

 

 

1,939 govt school houses 1.64 lakh students in Nagaland

Nagaland has 1,939 government schools as per UDISE 2021-22. Out of around 32,000 teachers in Nagaland, about 18,000 teachers are in government schools. Out of about 4 lakh students across the state, about 1.64 lakh students are in government schools.

Recalling the past performance of the government schools in Nagaland, which produced responsible leaders, politicians and responsible citizen of the state, Kevileno said “People look upon us to deliver.” In this, she stressed on the need to restore the faith of the public in the government school.

Nagaland’s School Education, Principal Director Thavaseelan K said the department has designed in-house training to train the newly promoted AHMs/JEOs on the multiple aspects of office procedures, school management etc. before they take up their responsibilities. He urged upon them to give their best every single day to secure a bright future for children.

 

 

 

School Education Director, Wonthungo Tsopoe told the AHMs/JEOs to build good rapport with their colleagues, SMCs, parents, teachers and the society, to understand the problem and the ground reality. He also told them to exercise their responsibilities in an efficient manner to build a better department. Tsopoe said that the department wants to see a better department through them.

AHMs/JEOs to be trained on office courtesy, soft skills

Topics to be covered in this three-day training will include; orientation of office procedure, introduction to Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules 1968, file management, noting & drafting, NECTAR project, basic account matters, maintenance of service book/APAR, leave rules, office courtesy, soft skills, Samagra Mission Nagaland, inclusive education, school counseling and bagless day and highlight of Vidyanjali 2.0.

 

 

 

The resource persons includes; Dr Zavise Rume, Prof SCERT, Avelu Ruho, Deputy project director NECTAR Project, Kelhikha Kenye, deputy project director Samagra Mission Nagaland,  Andreas, under secretary Govt of Nagaland, G Kevishe (Rtd) Additional secretary, Longtsubo, Assistant Superintendent, Daniel Thong, senior lecturer SCERT, nodal officer of Vidyanjali 2.0 and Lhokuto, assistant superintendent.

Earlier, the inaugural session was chaired by assistant director Kevitsiano Luho while assistant director Visetuono Angami invoked God’s blessing. Altogether, 195 registered for the training programme, which will continue till March 17.
