GUWAHATI, JULY 11 (MExN): Advisor for Department of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, along with Department officials attended the review meeting held by Manohar Lal, Union Minister for Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs on July 9 at Guwahati.
According to a press release, the Advisor appraised the Union Minister on the status of the various missions and programmes of the Ministry implemented by the State Government.
He informed that Nagaland recently conducted elections to ULBs successfully with women reservation after a gap of twenty years. He appealed the Union Minister to assist the ULBs with one time special grant-in-aid to assist these ULBs who have missed development opportunity for a long time due to absence of elected body.
Further, the Advisor informed that Nagaland had also participated in the Incubation City competition, which will be the first planned city in Nagaland and will create economic activities job opportunities for the young generations, the press release said.
The Advisor then requested the Union Minister to launch special scheme for the hilly North- East States to cover urban roads, landslide protection, drainages and footpaths which are very important for hilly states.
