Training re-orientation for PETs of Nagaland underway in Kohima

A three day long training re- orientation for all the Physical Education Teachers (PETs) of the Department of School Education commenced today at Multi Purpose Hall, Riizhiikhrie GHSS Kohima. The programme, to continue till November 7, is organised by Directorate of School Education and funded by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.

Addressing the inaugural function, Razouseyi Vese, Additional Director, School Education Nagaland maintained that there is an acute shortage of PTEs in the state.

Stating that Nagaland being a fund constraints state, he said the government couldn’t create the required post of PETs for all the schools in the state. He assured that the department will look into the matter through other agencies. Presently, there are 263 PETs in the state. Vese called upon the PETs to adopt resource sharing mechanism and go extra mile to help the adjacent schools. “If they (PETs) do so, that will be a positive sign,” he said. He also urged upon the PETs to identify the talents of the students and groom them to higher level.

Maintaining that physical well-being of the students is the foremost thing to excel in any field, he said that the students need to stay fit and mentally strong. For this, Vese told the PETs to be ambassador for physical well-being of the student.

Chungngam Konyak, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland also spoke at the inaugural function and told the PETs to utilize this training meaningfully and bring some changes in their performance. He said National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 gives due importance towards physical education in schools.

Delivering keynote address, Vitsolie Keyho, PEO, School Education Nagaland said that the objective of the training programme is to equip the PETs on the latest changes of rules and regulations of the sports activities and to deliver the job in a fairly manner.

Keyho thanked Samagra Shiksha Nagaland for organising the training programme.

He was also hopeful that Samagra Shiksha will continue to support the High School and Higher Secondary Schools tournaments in the state.

The resources person for three days long training include Neilazetuo Khezhie, FSTO; Neikuosilie, FSTO ; Salew Kadete, NIS Basketball, WABC Level-1, BFI Panel- B; Mechievilie Yashii, National Football Referee (Level 5) ; Holshe Khrie, Sepaktakraw Coach and Avisa Chase, Aerobics & Fitness Instructor.
