76th Republic Day celebrations across Nagaland

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 27 (MExN): Nagaland celebrated the 76th Republic Day across the state on January 26. The state capital, Kohima, witnessed a vibrant parade at the Secretariat Plaz a, where contingents from various security forces, including the 13 Assam Rifles, 78 CRPF Battalion, and Nagaland Police, participated. Led by Parade Commander Limaonen, NPS, the event also featured performances by pipe bands and cultural presentations.

At the DDSC Stadium, Minister C.L. John hoisted the national flag, inspected the parade, and inaugurated departmental exhibition stalls. The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a musical retreat by the 43rd Assam Rifles Band.
Wokha District witnessed celebrations of the 76th Republic Day today at the Local Ground Wokha, with the Minister of Roads and Bridges, Nagaland, G. Kaito Aye, as the special guest.

The day commenced with the unfurling of the national flag across various government offices, institutions, official residences, private homes, shops, and business establishments. Special visits were conducted at the Founding Harbor, Children’s Home – IRCS, Wokha, Morning Star Children’s Home, SBI Wokha (Main Branch), and Jail inmates at Sub-Jail – DCCI, Wokha. The celebration began with the arrival of all parade contingents, officials and General public. The review of the parade was conducted by the Superintendent of Police, Wokha.

Special Guest G. Kaito Aye unfurled the national flag at local ground, took the Rashtriya Salute from the 7 Parade contingents followed by the National Anthem. He also presented the Republic Day speech.

Following the ceremony, the special guest inaugurated a series of stalls, which was followed by a state lunch at the DC’s official residence. The day concluded with an Exhibition Football Match between DC’s XI and the Head of Departments, with prizes distributed to the winning teams. The closing ceremony featured the Beating of the Retreat by DEF, Wokha.

Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton unfurled the national flag at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, where commendation certificates under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao were awarded to UBI Imlichila for her contributions to gender equality and women’s safety.

The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great fervor in Zunheboto District, marking the spirit of national unity and pride alongside the rest of the country. The event was graced by Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland.

In addition to the ceremonial events, Hekani Jakhalu also inaugurated a series of Exhibition Stalls showcasing the creativity and innovation of local entrepreneurs. The stalls, organszed by various departments, featured a wide range of artistic and entrepreneurial endeavors. Jakhalu took the opportunity to encourage the departments to support the young entrepreneurs for their dedication and contributions to the local economy and cultural heritage which will bring laurels to our state and country. 

Advisor T.N. Mannen presided over the celebrations at Mon Local Ground, which included a ceremonial march past by ten contingents, including the 6th NAP and local educational institutions.

In Noklak, Advisor K. Konngam Konyak hoisted the national flag at the Public Ground, where nine contingents, including Village Guards and schools, participated in the parade led by Tianungba Ao.

Minister N. Jacob Zhimomi led the celebrations at the Deputy Commissioner’s Complex in Peren, with performances by contingents from local schools and security forces.

Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse addressed the gathering at the Parade Ground and reviewed the parade, which included contingents from DEF Tuensang and NCC cadets.

In Kiphire Advisor Mhathung Yanthan presided over the celebrations at the Local Ground, delivering the Republic Day message and taking the salute from six contingents.

Advisor H. Tovihoto Ayemi hoisted the flag and addressed the crowd at the Public Play Ground in Longleng, with performances by six contingents, including Village Guards and educational institutions.

Advisor Temjenmenba graced the celebrations at Phek Headquarters, where five contingents participated in the parade led by Assistant Commandant Vedehu Theluo, NPS.

Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang led the event at the Public Ground in Niuland, recognizing district awardees and showcasing cultural performances, including folk dances by Tokishe village men.

Minister Temjen Imna Along delivered the Republic Day address at Samogooting Stadium, with a parade comprising contingents from Patkai College and Assam Rifles.

Minister P. Bashangmongba Chang presided over the celebrations at RSA Ground in Tseminyu, with NCC contingents and Ex-Servicemen participating.

In Shamator, Advisor Imkongmar hoisted the flag at the Public Ground, with cultural troupes showcasing traditional performances.

Advisor Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe led the celebrations in Meluri at the Public Ground, with participation from local schools and Village Guards. Celebrations featured traditional and modern performances alongside the official parade, reflecting the area’s cultural heritage.

Smaller towns like Aghunato, Tizit, and Noksen hosted local events led by their respective administrative heads, marked by parades, cultural showcases, and community involvement.
