4 die in separate mishaps in Dimapur, Tuli

Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, JAN 11 (NPN) : Four persons were killed in two separate mishaps that occurred on Sunday night and Monday morning.

According to PRO Dimapur police, three persons travelling in a Baleno that was exiting from Diphupar died near Diphupar village junction (NH-29) when a speeding Toyota Innova rammed into their car at around 10.30 p.m. Sunday night

PRO informed that all three occupants in the Baleno were immediately rushed to CIHSR hospital by some people, but were declared brought dead. The deceased included one lady and two males. As per preliminary investigation, PRO said that the visuals of the CCTV footage showed that the Innova had over speeded.

PRO said the driver of Innova fled the site immediately after the incident. However, PRO said the driver was arrested from Nepali Kashiram around 3:30 a.m. Monday as per documents from the vehicle. He said that a suo motu case was registered by traffic police at Diphupar police station.

In another incident, the driver of an excavator (Poclain) was crushed to death in a freak accident at Zero Point, Merangkong-Tamlu road on Monday when a huge boulder fell on the excavator.

SDPO Tuli, K. Moa said that the incident took place around 11.30 a.m. The deceased was identified as one Nitul Deka (20), son of Bhajirath Deka of Naburka village, Assam. The body was taken to Mokokchung for postmortem and later handed over to the company where the driver was working.
