In connection with the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister and other ministers of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly at the Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima on March 7, the Kohima Police on Sunday issued traffic advisory as well as a ‘No Drone Zone’ notification. 

Among other dignitaries, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the event, officially kick-starting the 2nd innings of the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance. 

The alliance won 37 seats in the general elections to 14th NLA held on February 27, thereby crossing the 31 threshold to form the government. It is unclear whether other parties would join the new government.  

 

 

 

The PRO Kohima Police informed on Sunday that several areas in the State capital have been declared “No Parking Zones” in view of the event on March 7.

These include Classic Island to Phoolbari via TCP Gate; Phoolbari to 1st Assam Rifles Main Gate via Ao Church. 

“All obstructing vehicles will be towed as per the provisions of Section 201 MV Act, and towing charges shall be recovered from the vehicle owner,” stated an official release .

Besides, all up vehicle traffic from High School junction Bayavu will be diverted to KOHIMAS Hospital-Naga Bazar Road-NHAK Junction via Census Point, it said. 

All vehicles proceeding towards Razhü Point from North PS junction area will be diverted to New Market-Naga Bazar Road, it added. 

The Kohima Police also appealed for co-operation from all citizens during the enforcement of this traffic regulation. 

 

 

 

Meanwhile, in another notification, the Kohima Police informed that the whole of Kohima district under Kohima Municipal has been declared as “No Drone Zone” on March 7 as part of the security arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony. 

Flying of any remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) such as drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) etc will be restricted and violation of the directive will amount to suspension or cancellation of the UIN/ UAOP of the RPA issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, it said. 

Violators would be prosecuted under relevant section of laws, it added. 

Further, Schools located outside the limits of Kohima City may function as usual. Heads of those Schools are informed to check the Traffic Advisory issued by the competent authorities and advise students accordingly.

Principal Director, Department of School Education Thavaseelan K also informed via a notification that all schools located in Kohima City will remain closed March 7 in view of security measures being undertaken for the swearing- in ceremony.

However, there will be normal functioning in schools where students are appearing examinations, it said. 

The notification further underscored that the schools located outside the limits of Kohima City may function as usual.

Heads of those Schools are informed to check the Traffic Advisory issued by the competent authorities and advise students accordingly, it added.
