New Delhi, Feb 9 (agencies) India registered 71,365 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, 5.6 per cent higher than yesterday. It brings the nation’s total caseload to 4,24,10,976.
Top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 29,471 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 6,107 cases, Tamil Nadu with 4,519 cases, Karnataka with 4,452 cases and Rajasthan with 3,411 cases.
These five states accounted for 67.21 per cent of the new cases, with Kerala alone responsible for 41.3 per cent of the new cases.
As many as 1,217 deaths were reported in the country in the past 24 hours, increasing the total reported death count to 5,05,279.
A total of 1,72,211 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 4,10,12,869 across the country. India’s recovery rate now stands at 96.7 per cent.
India’s active caseload stands at 8,92,828. In the last 24 hours, active cases decline by 1,02,063.
India has administered a total of 53,61,099 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,70,87,06,705.
A total of 15,71,726 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
