A liquor bottling plant in Dimapur was reportedly raided by the security forces on September 2, leading to the arrest of one person. According to sources, the unit, located in 7th Mile, Dimapur was allegedly used for manufacturing spurious/adulterated liquor. Accordingly, the caretaker of the unit was arrested.
A press statement from the HQ IGAR (N) on Wednesday evening also informed that the arrest was made when security forces conducted an operation in general area 7th Mile Model village based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of illegal contraband items in the area. The joint operation by security forces and police representatives was part of the ongoing crackdown to prevent illegal activities in Nagaland, it said.
During the operation, a total of 98 Burma Teak, one bottling plant of IMFL MC Rum, 107 cases of rum and packing materials were recovered, it added. The HQ IGAR (N) release identified the caretaker as one Electo Sumi (36 years), a resident of 6th Mile, Dimapur. Along with the recovered items, he was handed over to Chümoukedima police station and Superintendent of Anti Smuggling Customs Prevention Division, Dimapur for further investigation, it added.
