We appreciate the wisdom of GOI in choosing Shri R. N Ravi, Deputy National Security adviser, as an interlocutor in the Indo-Naga political negotiations. Having sign framework Agreement with NSCN (I-M) on 3rd August 2015. And whereas, the Naga people’s hope and expectation for political solution became much more vocal and practical when “Agreed Position” or “ Preamble” was signed on 17th November 2017 between GOI interlocutor Shri R.N Ravi and the working committee of six Naga political groups. For once there emerges a real and acceptable political solution.
Honorable Sir, it is December 2018, a festive atmosphere is visible in our land. As our people awaits Christmas and New Year, would you and your esteemed colleagues not care to take a decisive step that you have often promised to Naga people?
Honorable sir, your assurance to us when our delegation met you on 3rd August 2017, gave us much courage and hope that, indeed our people have sought to prepare and, using Biblical phrase, turn swords into ploughshares.
The Naga Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF), a traditional and customary institution representing every village in Nagaland feels that, you, honourable prime minister, it is an epoch making juncture of both Indian and Naga history. The ongoing political negotiation between GOI representative Shri R. N Ravi and Naga leader, we are briefed, have touched all important matters and both entities, in principle, have agreed to work out the details for peaceful coexistence considering contemporary political reality. It is reported that only symbolic issues require further understand.
We believe now it is a time for the GOI, with you at the helm, to take the final step. Nagas have had bitter past experience and it would not be in the interest of GOI to leave the issue unattended beyond your trusted leadership.
The NGBF is constrained to submit this representation once again in view of our observation that the progress of negotiation seems to have slowed down without obvious major hitch. The seeming hiatus is indeed a matter of serious concern. We, therefore, besiege your esteemed leadership to help create an honourable and acceptable future for Naga people, allowing us to prosper through peaceful coexistence, defending the democratic principles that we strongly believe in.
