Dimapur, January 12 (MExN): The School of Music Dimapur (SOMD), founded in 2000 by Reyopoyi Nyekha and Cuvolu Nyekha, celebrated its 25th anniversary on January 11.
Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, graced the occasion as special guest, while Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director of TaFMA, extended greetings. The programme featured welcome address by Rev Dr Vezopa Tetseo, Senior Pastor of CBC Diphupar, and musical performances by the Children’s Choir, Jubilee Choir, SOMD staff, and Jano Nyekha, Administrator.
Dr Sothu highlighted the importance of nurturing young talents and praised SOMD for its 25 years of service, encouraging students to excel in the competitive music industry.
Temjen Imna Along lauded the school’s achievements and envisioned Nagaland becoming a hub for music education. Starting with just seven students, SOMD now offers courses in piano, guitar, vocals, drums, and music theory.
A press release received here stated that to mark its anniversary, SOMD is offering a 50% discount on admissions for hostellers and day scholars until February 2025.
