Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has reportedly taken a sabbatical from the hectic ministerial life, leaving the reins to one of his deputies for the interim. The CM’s leave of absence was dated January 8, 2025. The letter was meant to be confidential but leaked to social media.
It stated that he will be out of station from January 8, and authorised the Deputy Chief Minister, incharge of Home, Y Patton, to carry on the affairs of the state in the CM’s absence. It did not specify the cause for taking the leave.
According to sources, the CM left for the USA. It could not be ascertained if it is an official state trip but it was disclosed that the CM’s itinerary reportedly includes an appointment with AR Rahman in connection to a documentary video project and other personal engagements.
