Union MoS Sanjay Kumar interacts with stakeholders in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, November 20 (MExN): The Union Minister of State (Home Affairs), Bandi Sanjay Kumar, visited Mokokchung today and held an interactive session with the district machinery and local communities at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall.

According to the State DIPR, during the interaction, Ao Senden President Marsanen Imsong briefed the MoS about the border issues with Assam and urged him to intervene and resolve the matter amicably once and for all.

He also emphasised the people’s desire to live without fear, pointing out that Mokokchung is a peaceful area and should not be classified as a “disturbed area.” He called for the repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 from the district.

Imsong also highlighted the scarcity of drinking water in the district and requested Kumar to “use his influence in solving the problem.”

Meanwhile, representatives from the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) apprised the minister of the need for a Music Academy in the district, as well as an electric crematorium in the town.

At the interaction, President Watsu Mungdang and S Arenla Longkumer highlighted the poor condition of circular roads in and around Mokokchung town and in rural areas. She also mentioned the need for a proper place in the town, especially for the women vegetable vendors.

Upon enquiry by MoS Kumar, different government departments also presented their grievances, according to the DIPR report.
Acknowledging the concerns raised by the district machinery and local communities, he assured he would do his best to relay the issues to the relevant ministry and ensure they are addressed.

After the meeting, he paid a visit to Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital.
