‘Common Cancers: Prevention, Screening and Early Diagnosis’ programme in Kohima

Kohima, November 15 (MExN): National Programme for Non-Communicable Disease, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai & Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati organised a programme on “Common Cancers: Prevention, Screening and Early Diagnosis” for Medical Officers, MOs (AYUSH), Dental Surgeons & CHOs. The programme was held at De Oriental hotel on November 14, stated a press release issued by Media officer, DPMU (NHM), Kohima. 

The programme was chaired by Dr Rahul Sonwane, Project Manager, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. Keynote address and overview of the programme was highlighted by Dr Alemwabang Aier, Jt Director & SPO (NP-NCD) 

Dr Mereninla, Additional Director & SPO (NHM) was the special guest. It was cited that Kohima District is privileged to be trained on Non-Communicable Disease as it is a pilot project programme where Kohima and Mokokchung are the first two districts to get the best opportunity. She reminded the participant to be accountable in delivering the services for the community. 

The technical session highlights on powerpoint presentation by resource persons – Oral Cancer Prevention and Early Diagnosis presentation by Dr Prakash Sutar, Department of Head & Neck Surgical Oncology, BBCI Guwahati, “Access to Affordable Cancer Care for One and All” project overview by Dr Chaveri Acharyya, Project Coordinator, Cancer Health Care service in Cancer & Policies in Cancer Prevention & Control by Dr Rahul Sonwane, Breast Cancer Prevention – Dr Prakharnshu, Department of Surgical Oncology, Breast Services, BBCI, Guwahati, Cervix Cancer Prevention by Dr Vijaylaxmi Daval, Department of Gynecological Oncology, BBCI Guwahati. Vote of thanks delivered by Dr Chaveri Acharyya, Project Coordinator.
