Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang expressed his disheartenment upon witnessing several structures constructed along the stretch of National Highway 702A between Thuvopisumi village and Phek Town, reportedly built in anticipation of compensation.

Zeliang stressed that such practices should be discouraged, urging the District Administration to take immediate action to prevent any delay in the sanctioning of the project.

He shared photos of the structures in a post on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) on November 12 and appeared to be taken  during Day-I of his four-day tour beginning on November 11 to assess the progress of key NH projects across five districts in Nagaland, along with by officers from the NPWD (NH).

On Day-I, Zeliang also interacted with the Village Council and villagers of Thuvopisumi Village in Phek District, expressing gratitude for their commitment to supporting government initiatives regarding National Highway construction.

In recent times, the mushrooming of ‘artificial buildings’ along National Highways in anticipation of compensation has captured widespread attention across various platforms.

The Morung Express had previously reported on such developments along the NH-29 Kohima-Jessami road in April 2021, as well as along NH-202 in the Meluri area in March of this year.
