Kohima, Nov 1 (MExN): The 7th annual Dr Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award was held at Putuonuo Hospital conference hall, Kohima on October 29. Eleven women, namely Ovitoli Sumi, Leah A Yeputhomi, Qhemi Yeptho, Anguvili Swu, Tonanili Achumi, Estina Chishi, LitoSwu, Ninu V Aye, Khekali Achumi, Kili V Awomi, and Eurica Sumi were felicitated at the award ceremony for securing MBBS seat through the NEET 2024.
Ninu V Aye spoke on behalf of the awardees, Piholi Swunetho, President STH spoke on behalf of the Sümi Totimi Hoho, and Kuholi Chishi, Associate Pastor Women SBCK prayed for the awardees. The programme was witnessed by 70 attendees, and graced with a thanksgiving song by Kivito Achumi.
Dr Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award is an initiative of Dr Toshevi Keditsu Sema, the first lady doctor from the Sümi tribe of Nagaland. She completed her MBBS in the year 1977 from Guwahati Medical College. This award is officiated by Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation in collaboration with Sümi Totimi Hoho, Nagaland, and presented annually to Sümi women who qualify to study graduate medical course (MBBS) though the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in India. This award comprises of a certificate and cash prize of Rs 2,00,000 (Rupees two lakh only). Till date, 54 women recipients have been acknowledged with this award, stated a press release received here.
