22nd Annual CPA Conference to be held in Nagaland in 2025

MIZORAM, SEPTEMBER 29 (MExN): The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region Zone-III, conducted its 21st Annual CPA Conference on September 27 and 28 in Aizawl, Mizoram. The conference held under theme “Fostering Legislative Sanctity,” brought together distinguished leaders and legislators from across the North East region.

The two-day event was inaugurated by Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha and Chairman of the CPA India Region. The inaugural session was also graced by the presence of Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha; Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Chairman of CPA India Region Zone-III; Chief Minister of Mizoram, Lalduhoma; and Lalbiakzama, Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly.

During the plenary sessions, Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and MLAs from the North East States engaged in in-depth discussions on two critical topics- Inclusion of the Northeast Region in the India-ASEAN Vision for Trade and Cooperation and Merging the Ministry of DONER with the North Eastern Council (NEC) for Enhanced Strategic Planning and Coordination.

Following comprehensive deliberations, the members unanimously passed a resolution addressing these key issues. In his concluding remarks, Chairman and Speaker Sharingain Longkumer highlighted the significance of the conference and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the host state. He also announced that the 22nd Annual CPA Conference will be held in Nagaland in 2025.
