Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0 launched in Jalukie town

Jalukie, September 26 (MExN): District Tobacco Control Cell, Peren in collaboration with Jalukie Police Station, District Enforcement Force and United Riders Motorcycle Club organised a launching programme of Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0, which is an initiative by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in India at Jalukie Town on September 24. 

A DIPR report stated that the campaign aims to build a healthier, tobacco free future among the youth through enhanced awareness, law enforcement and community engagement.

Speaking at the launch event, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Peren, Dr Niriethono Zetsovi said, tobacco is the leading cause of cancer and we cannot live in denial and ignorance any longer. She also added, most of the cases of oral cancer today are because of tobacco use and therefore it is time to wake up and start taking responsibility of our health. 

District Nodal Officer, Dr. Aoyanger in his short speech thanked all the participants and the parties with whom NTCP Peren had thus far work with. He also extended his gratitude to the United Riders Motorcycle Club Peren and further hoped that this campaign by bikers group will have great influence on the youths and this collaboration will continue in the future as well.

Social Worker, NTCP Peren, Hoineichin in her keynote address emphasised the campaign’s strategies.

Later, OC Jalukie Police Station, Disa Haikube flagged off the event and the campaign was officially launched with the United Riders Motorcycle Club making their ride through the town centre and public areas to create more awareness on tobacco hazards.
