Capacity building & training on tour guiding & homestays held at Kiphire

Kiphire, September 3 (MExN): A capacity building & training session on tour guiding and homestays was conducted at the Hopongkyu Memorial Hall in Kiphire on September 2. The event, organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA), was held in conjunction with the Mungmung Festival.

In his keynote address, Sr. Tourist Officer, Phek, S. Peter Trakha emphasized the Department of Tourism’s commitment to promoting and developing tourism events in districts and rural areas. He encouraged the local community to engage in these activities to promote their cultural heritage, foster sustainable development, and enhance the local economy by addressing poverty and inequality.

The session included presentations from Trakha’s team on the potential of tourism in Nagaland, the professional aspects of tour guiding, and the business opportunities in homestays. Interactive discussions with the youth were also part of the training.

K. Aliba Sangtam, President of the United Sangtam Longkhum Phom (USLP), welcomed the officers and the NTA team, expressing his gratitude for their visit to Kiphire. He highlighted the significance of this year’s Mungmung Festival, marking the first time it was celebrated in partnership with the Tourism Department, and wished everyone a joyful Mungmung.
