PDA alliance is ‘very strong,’ asserts Minister Imna Along

Amid talks of growing differences over the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections in June, Minister for State Tourism and Higher Education and BJP leader, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer today asserted that the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in Nagaland is ‘strong.’

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state executive meeting at IMC Hall, Dimapur, he said relationship between the two alliance partners of PDA – Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and BJP is ‘good.’

“Everything is good and the PDA alliance is going very strong,” Along stated.

Earlier, the newly elected BJP councilors of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) had raised concerns about the conduct of their coalition partner NDPP, when the two went head to head in several wards.

This deviation from coalition practices was confirmed by statements from NDPP MLAs of Dimapur II and III, they viewed.
“Even after the election was over we were not informed neither by our BJP party nor our NDPP alliance partners,” the further alleged.

The councilors also maintained that the NDPP proceeded to select the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson without consulting BJP elected councilors, depriving them of the opportunity to propose their own candidates.

In regard to this matter, Longkumer mentioned that his party had put up their petition of request in the spirit of the PDA alliance, by giving the responsibilities to all the BJP councilors who have won during the ULB election.

“It will take time, there will be further considerations, our central leaders are there,” he commented.
