Kohima, January 24 (MExN): The 11th Multi-Media Campaign 2024, promoting HIV awareness through music, organised by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society was held at State Academy Hall, Kohima on January 23 under the theme ‘Rise above HIV.’
During the band competition Stereo Groove emerged as the winner, followed by Naga Incarnate as 1st runner-up and Kenny and the Faith Band as the 2nd runner-up. Stereo Groove will represent Nagaland at the 5th North East Multi-Media Campaign in Shillong, Meghalaya, the IEC, NSACS stated in a press release.
The band competition featured three bands: Stereo Groove, Naga Incarnate, and Kenny and the Faith Band. Judges included Dr Ahu Sekhose, Project Director, NSACS; Obed Kath, Frontman, Divine Connection, Singer and Songwriter; and Mhaseve Tetseo, Collaborator, Producer and Artiste.
Earlier, addressing the participants, the Project Director Dr Ahu Sekhose enlightened the gathering about the basic facts about HIV and AIDS, encouraging them to stay safe and actively create awareness, A motivational speech was delivered by Bampheu Pame, RRC member from KROS College, Kohima. She emphasised education as a potent weapon against HIV. Young advocates were urged to break down misconceptions, challenge stigma, and actively spread accurate information.
The event included a special HIV and AIDS song, ‘Notun Akha (New Hope)’ by Aseno Metha and it was hosted by Mengu Suokhrie. The vote of thanks was delivered by Metevinuo Sakhrie, Joint Director (IEC and MS), NSACS.
Since its inception in 2009, Multi Media campaign, a brainchild of the National AIDS Control Organization, is an effort to bring about greater visibility to the issue of HIV and AIDS.
