The ongoing dense fog at isolated pockets in Nagaland is likely to continue till morning of January 21, informed the ‘Weather Forecast Bulletin’ issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Regional Met Centre (RMC), Guwahati on Thursday evening.
On January 19, the bulletin forecasted light rains or thunderstorm at isolated places with shallow to moderate fog at isolated pockets. “Dense fog very likely at isolated pockets,” it added.
The next two days are likely to be dry, though there would be very likelihood of dense or moderate fog at isolated pockets, the RMC noted. The RMC’s bulletin, however, forecasted dry weather from January 22, with no fog or other warning in Nagaland.
In another district-wise update on Thursday, the RMC forecasted dense fog at isolated pockets in Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek, Tuensang and Wokha for two days. On Day 3, however, it is predicted only at isolated pockets in Dimapur, Mon, Phek and Wokha.
The RMC Guwahati covers seven states of North-East – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
Meanwhile, lowest minimum temperature across the NE states on January 18 was observed at Shillong at 30 Celsius, a departure from the normal by -2.5. As per the RMC, most weather stations had below normal minimum temperatures including Guwahati, Agartala, Imphal, Lengpui, Itanagar, and Jorhat.
At 6.20 Celsius, the minimum temperature was 0.2 above normal in Kohima.
