Niuland, January 9 (MExN): Union Minister of State for Power & Heavy Industries, Krishan Pal Gurjar during a review meeting held at Niuland district in Nagaland stated that in regards to the power sector, ‘the country has become a power surplus nation and the central government will provide to any power needs of the State.’
According to a DIPR report, the review meeting was held with the district officers, NGOs, public leaders and beneficiaries of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes on January 6 last.
The Minister assured the gathering that the central government is ready to accept proposals of the state government in setting up any industry, provided availability of required raw materials.
The Minister interacted with the beneficiaries of different Central Sponsored Schemes and expressed his satisfaction in implementing agencies in the district.
He also mentioned that 5MW solar plant at Hovukhu village under Niuland district will be completed very soon and will cater to the needs of the state. The Minister of State and his entourage also visited development projects at Hovishe village.
Minister for PHE & Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, also addressed the gathering and acknowledged the central government for various development projects in the state specifically in the connectivity sector and mentioned the successful projects such as 4-lane road and Shoxuvi railway station. He also requested the Union Minister of State for more projects in the state, the DIPR report stated.
Deputy Commissioner Niuland, Sara S Jamir in her welcome address said the people of the district are fortunate to receive the first central minister in the district. She stated that Niuland being a newly created district is in need of overall development. Earlier, the programme was chaired by ADC Niuland, S Athsangla.
