Don Bosco Fest: Euphoria band arrives in Dimapur

Popular pop/rock band, Euphoria who are scheduled to perform in Dimapur at the Don Bosco fest come Sunday, expressed their enthusiasm to share the stage with Naga artists and get a taste of the crowd in Nagaland during their first concert tour for 2024. The band arrived in Dimapur in the afternoon of January 6. 

Later during a press conference at Niathu resort, Chümoukedima, Dr Palesh Sen, frontman and founder of Euphoria stated that as far as the Northeast is concerned, this will be their second concert after the first one at Arunachal Pradesh.

“It is a proud moment for all of us to not only come to Dimapur but to perform at the Don Bosco fest,” he said. Sen mentioned that the band were currently on their 25th anniversary tour with upcoming dates at Hyderabad and Kolkata later during the year. The band has also announced that they will be releasing a musical short film in the month of February. 

In regard to Sunday’s concert Sen mentioned that the band will be performing several of their popular hits including Dhoom Pichuck and Maaeri during their 90 minute slot. As such, he urged the people of Dimapur and Nagaland to come and witness what they have in store for their performance. “I hope people turn up in huge numbers.” 

In terms of their career, Sen noted that the band has created music in a wide of languages including Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi etc, blending it with Western and traditional instruments. When asked about the impact their songs have had over the years, he viewed that the band has been able to capture the attention of listeners from all age groups irrespective of their generation. 

In regard to the current state of the music industry in India, Sen pointed out that Bollywood has had very influential role on what is regarded as “popular music.” However, there are also many good independent underrated artists as well, he added. As such he encouraged the young upcoming artists from Nagaland to focus on making music which is original and can be accessible to all through platforms such as YouTube. “Have your own songs and don’t try to be like somebody else.” 

Other notable artists to perform include, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Lene Jamir with Alobo Naga sharing the stage as the event’s host.
