DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 10 (MExN): Members of the Phek District Maytas-Gayatri Damaged Victim Association (PDMGDVA) imposed a 12 hour road blockade in Phek on December 9 as protest against the delay in timely release of damage compensation by the State Government.
Slogans were raised questioning the delay of over 1 month in paying compensation and the imprecise non committal attitude of the State Government, a press release from the PDMGDVA informed.
As announced earlier, the association informed that it would “honor Sunday” and go ahead with the second phase of agitation (i.e. a 48 hour road blockade) on December 11 and 12 if State Government still fails to communicate to the association a definite response. Exemption of certain categories of vehicular movement as notified earlier will remain unchanged till further notification, it stated, further adding that the third phase of agitation will be announced as and when required.
The association meanwhile appreciates its members for giving full cooperation and support and urged them to be prepared as and when called for. It also expressed gratitude to the public for extending their solidarity.
