DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 18 (MExN): The Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) has issued an ultimatum to NHIDCL (National Highways and Infrastructure Development Coorporation Limited) to expedite completion and renovation of National Highway 02 stretch along Southern Angami region (region (Phesama-Khuzama Village) before November 25, 2023.
In the ultimatum letter addressed to the General Manager, NHIDCL, SAYO president Metekhrielie Mejura and general secretary Metevizo Sophie said the NH stretch in question serves as the main road connectivity for the people of Southern Angami villages and also directly provides connectivity to important tourist destinations located in our region.
However, the road condition, even after awaiting completion for many years, in its current state, has not only been causing inconvenience from all quarters but has been an embarrassment for the region even after the concerned citizens have been persuading for improvement of the road, it stated.
SAYO also said it had earlier issued an ultimatum on February 17, 2022 for prompt remedial action and expediting repair for National Highway 02 between Naga Heritage Village Kisama till Khuzama Police check-post stretch.
It also reminded that the 10-day Annual Hornbill Festival, 2023 at Kisama will also begin in December this year which will attract local, domestic and international tourists and visitors for the festival.
While reposing good faith to the concerned company, NHIDCL, which is entrusted with the task of improving and maintaining road connectivity to enable efficient and safe transport, SAYO has appealed for undertaking the work in response to the issue served.
Failing to comply with the same, the agency responsible for maintaining the road will be liable to any untoward turn of event and action, it cautioned.
