Governor assures govt working to overcome shortfalls in Niuland

DIMAPUR, JULY 15 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, La Ganesan visited Niuland district today and assured that the government is making efforts to overcome the infrastructural and other shortcomings in the district. He further assured that adequate personnel will soon be posted in all the district offices. 

During a meeting with civil societies and heads of departments at the DC conference hall in Niuland, the Governor said that Niuland, which shares boundaries with Chumokedima, Wokha, Dimapur, Kohima, Tseminyu, and Assam, has the potential to become an ideal transport hub and transit point for all these districts. 

As part of the government’s road development plans, the Governor informed that he recently wrote to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, regarding the trans Nagaland Foothill road. This road will connect all the western districts of the state, with Niuland being an important transit point. The development of the Botsa-Niuland-Bokajan road is also progressing well according to NHIDCL officials, he said.

The Governor also highlighted various centrally sponsored schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and Jan-Dhan Account. He urged the relevant departments to ensure the effective implementation of these schemes so that the common people can benefit.

In the education sector, the Governor emphasized the adoption of the New Education Policy (NEP) by all schools and colleges in the state. NEP aims to improve the quality of education in India to meet international standards and nurture students’ potential, enhance their reading and numeracy skills, as well as develop their creativity and logical thinking abilities, he said.

The Governor meanwhile recognized that Nagaland has lagged behind in many developmental aspects compared to other states due to various challenges faced over the years. He called upon the people to embrace peace and make extra efforts to catch up with the rest of the country.
