DIMAPUR CRIME REPORT: 435 cases registered, 386 person arrested in 6 months

Overall law & order situation across three districts peaceful and under control: Commissioner of Police

DIMAPUR, JULY 12 (MExN): A total of 435 cases were registered under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and special and local law from the three districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland since January till June 2023, the office of the Commissioner of Police has revealed in its half yearly crime report.

And altogether 386 person have been arrested in connection with the cases registered in the span of 6 months, a press note from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) & PRO Dimapur stated on Tuesday.

As per the crime statistics, there were 145 cases of theft, 85 cases under NLTP Act, 60 under NDPS Act, 28 cases of extortion, 32 cases under arms act, 17 cases for criminal breach of trust, 11 cases of kidnapping and abduction, 12 cases on causing death due to negligence, 2 murder case among others.

Apparently terming as a major achievement in its war against drugs, the police said 94 person were arrested out of the 85 cases registered under Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act (NLTP) Act and 85 arrested from the 60 cases registered under Narcotic-Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act.

The police also made a huge cache of seizures of assorted IMFL (91,436 bottles), 8429.74 grams of heroin/sunflower/brown sugar, 14,088 number of samplfx tab, 1500 number of Nitcor tab, 10 kilo of contraband ganja, 450 gram of opium, 1259 no of SP tab, 640 number of World is Yours tab etc and cash amounting to Rs 34, 82, 455.

In cases related to extortion, 38 person were arrested along with seizure of Rs 8, 02, 490 in cash, 3 arms, 16 rounds of ammunition while in the arms act cases, 33 person were arrested with recovery of 36 arms, 382 round of ammunition and Rs 4, 34, 670 in cash.

In non FIR related cases, the police informed that 1656 cases were registered and 1726 person detained. A total of 146 person were reported missing during the 6 month out of which 93 were traced and 53 person still untraced.

On traffic enforcement related cases, the police informed that a total of 10668 defaulters have been challaned.

Highlighting the half yearly crime report, the press note from the Commissioner of Police maintained that the overall law and order situation across the three districts had been by and large peaceful and under control during the past 6 month.

Asserting that crime detection and prevention had been the focal point of the Commissionerate Police, the police informed that much of its action plan initiated to reduce crime, enforce the law and maintain criminal justice; placement of Micro Sector Commanders (MSC)/ Sector Commanders (SC) overseeing a set numbers of villages / colonies has been achieved.
