DIMAPUR, JULY 12 (MExN): A four member team from the National Health System & Resource Center (NHSRC), New Delhi and Regional Resource Center – NE (RRC-NE) are here in Nagaland in connection to creation of Public Health Cadre.
The team comprising of Dr Poonam, Consultant, NHSR, New Delhi, Dr Priyanka Consultant, NHSRC, New Delhi, Munitatat, Consultant NHSR, New Delhi and Sagarika Klita, from RRC-NE, Guwahati called upon the Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Y Kikheto Sema, and Principal Director, Dr Vibeituonuo M. Sachu and officers of the department.
Interacting with the state health department officials, Dr Poonam said their visit is to understand and support the state in creating Public Health Cadre. She appreciated the existing service rule of the department which is divided into different category and manpower being posted in the entire category prior to their promotion. She also stressed on the formation of state task force for creation of Public Health Cadre under the chairmanship of the Commissioner & Secretary, DoHFW.
Y Kikheto Sema stated that when it comes to health there is a huge challenge especially due to the geographical and topographical uniqueness of the state. He also mentioned that in a state like Nagaland, it is difficult to follow the Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS) due to many factors especially shortage of qualified manpower and the state being unable to create more post.
Towards this, he requested the Government of India to consider the constraints of the region while planning policies since whatever is applicable in the mainland will not be practical for the hilly area. He added that the state is working towards providing cashless health care through the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).
Kikheto also talked about how Nagaland is in the process of reviving communitisation by involving community, NGO for better delivery system for which the GoI’s support was sought.
The NHSRC & RRC-NE team also visited health units in Dimapur.
