Dr Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) of Bihar, Chief Whip (Opposition) and State BJP in-charge of Sikkim during a media interaction at the Tourist Lodge, Dimapur on June 15 claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opened cases against 17 senior government officers in Nagaland pertaining to corruption.  “There are 17 senior officers of this state whose files have been opened and were under investigation,” he claimed.

Further adding that most of the officers are only concerned about the welfare and benefit of their families; and not for the welfare of the state, he said “Instead of being servants they are acting like kings and the people are the servants.”

The BJP leader from Bihar was on a two-day courtesy visit to the state in view of the 9 year anniversary of the Modi-led BJP government at the centre. Jaiswal mentioned that the party has been extremely sincere and concerned about the development of Nagaland.

He stated that under the theme of peace, prosperity and progress, the State has been making great progress in several infrastructural areas. At the same time, he admitted, although the BJP is part of the NDPP-led coalition government, corruption still continues to persist in each level of the state machinery.

In this regard, corruption needs to be removed from Nagaland which has become a cancer, he declared. “If you want development you have to remove the corrupt officers. No politician will say these kinds of words…they have no courage,” he added.

Meanwhile, taking a dig at the Congress party’s legacy, he asserted that the party was responsible for turning corruption into an addiction for bureaucrats. “For which we are removing this addiction which will take time,” he commented.
