Awang P Yimpushü, who secured the first position in Science stream at the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exam 2023, is no stranger to success. Being a resident of Kohima, he passed his matriculation from Mezhür Higher Secondary School, securing the top 8 position as well.
Now again as a state topper from St John Higher Secondary Residential School, Dimapur, he has also bagged the subject topper in Chemistry, scoring 98 marks. “I attribute all my success to God,” he said while speaking over the phone.
He furthermore expressed gratitude to his parents, for their love and support and to his teachers who guided him all throughout the academic year.
Yimpushü, 18, is the eldest from among three children of Peyao Konyak and Tangam Konyak.
On his study routine, Yimpushü revealed that he studied for 9-10 hours per day which helped him build up the momentum for the finals.
At present, he has set his sights on getting through JEE Advanced in order to study computer science. “Either as a programme, software developer or something along that line but I still haven’t figured it out yet,” he added. Besides studies, football and playing guitar are his favourite pastime hobbies.
