NCW member in Nagaland to see ‘liveability of women in distress’

Kohima, May 23 (MExN): National Commission for Women (NCW) member, Delina Khongdup is currently undertaking an official tour to Nagaland to see the liveability of women in distress in the women-centric institutions and to interact with the female inmates in the general institutions. 

The tour was kicked off on May 17, Khongdup along with officials from Nagaland State Women Commission (NSCW), Social Welfare Department, District Administration, DLSA and Police, visited One Stop Centre (OSC) and Swadhar Greh at Dimapur.

A press release received here stated that intensive deliberation was held to collectively address the issue of women affected by violence. She highlighted the need to create more awareness on cybercrime, domestic violence, Human Trafficking, missing children etc. She also visited the Psychiatric OPD at the District Hospital. The need to strengthen rehabilitation services for mentally unsound persons was reiterated by all stakeholders. She also interacted with officials and female inmates at the District Jail, Dimapur.

Khongdup deliberated with the Deputy Commissioners and other officials of Niuland and Chümoukedima on May 18 and visited Community Health Centre.

She visited Peren District on May 19 and interacted with Deputy Commissioner of Peren, OSC staff and Female jail inmates.

Khongdup along with NSCW chairperson, W Nginyeih Konyak will be visiting various similar institutions in Zunheboto and Mokokchung Districts in the days ahead.

Her tour will continue till May 24.
