177 cases disposed off during National Lok Adalat

DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (MExN): A total of 177 cases out of 198 cases were disposed off on May 10 during the National Lok Adalat sitting conducted across districts by the District Legal Services Authorities (DALSA) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authorities. 

The total settlement amount was Rs 2,89,07,043. Disputes/matters/cases listed for compromise settlement included cases in pending stage as well as in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank Recovery, Criminal Compoundable cases & Motor Accident Cases Tribunal (MACT) and other cases viz. public utility.  

The Kiphire DLSA conducted Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Kiphire. Phuleto Yepthomi, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary was the Presiding Officer,  Bendamgwati Retainer Lawyer and Lizila Sangtam Panel Lawyer were Conciliators. A total of 5 bank loan recovery cases were taken up and 3 cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs. 37,59,651.

In Zunheboto, Julian Sitlhou, Secretary Zunheboto DLSA was the presiding officer and Easter Yepthomi and Inolito K Sumi were the Conciliators. Altogether 07 pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 5 were disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs. 11,10,912.

The Tuensang DLSA conducted 2nd quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court premise Tuensang. Nine (9) bank recovery cases were taken up and all settled. The presiding officer were Cheliam Khiamniungan, NJS Secretary Tuensang DLSA, and conciliators were Smti.Birila panel lawyer and Yemlong Chaba panel lawyer assisted by PLVs. Total cases taken up were 9; and all were disposed with a  total settlement amount of Rs 10,01.951. 

Phek DLSA conducted 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat ot District Court Complex. Neiko Akami NJS, District and Session Judge, Phek cum Chairman PDLSA and councilators were Vethothi Vero Retainer Lawyer, Thomeweu Panel Lawyer assisted by PLVs. 13 cases taken up were disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs.21,15,939.

In Wokha, the DLSA conducted National Lok Adalat at WDLSA front office, District Court Complex Wokha. Nino Iralu Chairperson WDLSA, Meribemo A Lotha and Renbonthung Tsanglao Panel Lawyer, Daisy Tungoe PLV and Court staff participated in the Lok Adalat. SBI (2 branches), Bank of Baroda, Central Bank and NStCB participated in the Lok Adalat. 8 cases – 7 loan /Bank Recovery Cases (Pre-Litigation) and 1 pending trial case were taken up and 5 cases were disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs 9,89,240.

The ongleng DLSA conducted National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex. Khrievono Seletsu (NJS), Secretary LDLSA was the Presiding Officer. Panel Lawyers P Monyei Phom and Panglang Y Phom, were the Conciliators.

Katvang, Manau N and Shingai, PLVS were also present. 10 cases taken up were settled with an amount of Rs 1,93,806.

In Mokokchung, the DLSA conducted National Lok adalat at District Court. WV Patton, Secretary, MDLSA was the presiding officer. Out of 20 cases taken up, 20 were disposed. 19 were under pre litigation case and 1 pending litigation (Money suit) with a total settlement Amount of Rs 28,55,427.

The Dimapur DLSA conducted the NLA at District Court Complex. Altogether, 51 cases were taken up and the settlement amount was Rs 1,28,84,087.

Mon DLSA organized National Lok Adalat at the Front Office, DLSA, Mon. The Presiding Officer was B Peter Resu, Secretary of Mon DLSA, and the Retainer Lawyer Topha Angyen and Panel Lawyer Moba Konyak acted as Conciliators.

During the event, 20 cases were taken up, and 11 of them were disposed of successfully, resulting in a total settled amount of Rs 25,62,375.

The Kohima DLSA held the National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Kohima. Duvelu Vero, Chairman Kohima DLSA & Principal District & Sessions Judge Kohima and Wokono Yhoshü, Judicial Magistrate First Class Kohima were the presiding officers and the Retainer Lawyer and Panel Lawyers were Conciliators. Around 500 bank recovery, telephone bills and 3 pending cases were put up for the said Lok Adalat whereby 28 litigants turned up for settlement. 27 cases were settled. The total outstanding amount was Rs  52,72,072, which was settled at Rs 32,15,655. The banks and telephone companies waived around Rs. 20,56,417. The PLVs of Kohima DLSA also assisted for miscellaneous works.
