Sensitization on drugs laws for community pharmacies

Kohima, April 6 (MExN): A sensitization programme on drugs laws and management of pharmacies was held for the community pharmacies at APO conference hall, Kohima on May 5.

The programme was jointly organised by the Drugs Control Administration, Chief Medical Officer office Kohima and the Pharmacy Union Kohima. 

A press release received here stated that during the program, Dr Imchatoshi, Deputy CMO of Kohima district encouraged the gathering for proper dispensing of medicine as per prescription of the Physician, he also reminded the gathering to abide by the laws effectively for better service to the citizens.

Ethungbemo Ezung, Drugs Control Officer & MDO Kohima district made an appeal to the gathering to consider themselves more as a service provider rather than as business person, as the service provided by the pharmacies is crucial for effective and quality health care delivery system. He also highlighted important sections of Drugs and Cosmetic Act and Rules with respect to proper dispensing and record management. 

He also appealed to all the pharmacies to cooperate towards successful implementation of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ by installing CCTV as directed by the Deputy Commissioner, Chairman NCORD and also meticulously follow the terms and conditions provided in the Notification issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Nagaland with respect to purchase and sale of medicines that are declared as restricted in order to avoid administrative and legal action. 

The programme was chaired by Zhapuvilie Yashu, President, Pharmacy Union Kohima and concluded with vote of thanks by Apollo, General Secretary, Pharmacy union Kohima.
