The viva-voce for the Combined Staff Recruitment Examination (CSRE) 2022, which was postponed earlier, has been rescheduled to commence April 24, while the Naga Students’ Federation has cancelled its proposed agitation related with the conduct of the exam.
The Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB), under which the CRSE is being conducted, informed in a notification that the viva-voce will commence from Monday and the revised schedule are available on the official website of the board.
The new schedule in compliance with the directive issued by the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms, Nagaland, stated the Secretary-cum-Controller of Examination NSSB in the notification dated April 20.
It further informed the candidates that the revised schedule is available on the NSSB’s website https://nssb.nagaland.gov.in and further directed them to strictly comply with the instructions accordingly.
Meanwhile, the NSF, which had earlier announced a democratic agitation and boycott throughout the proposed duration of personal interview for the current cycle of CSRE, informed that the proposed agitation “stands cancelled.”
This is consequent to the assurance received from the Government of Nagaland through an official communication on April 22, the Federation stated in a press release from its President, Kegwayhun Tep and Secretary Education Medovi Rhi.
According to the NSF, the communication conveyed that the State Government had looked into the Federation’s demand “with utmost seriousness” and assured detail consultations with the former after completion of the present cycle of recruitment by NSSB.
“The government shall call for detail consultations with the NSF to examine the entire matter pertaining to the proportion of the total marks to be kept in the viva-voce component in the next cycle of recruitments to be conducted by the NSSB, and arrive at an agreed suitable solution to the matter,” it stated.
In this connection, the NSF expressed its appreciation to the State Government under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for “exercising the political will to ensure a free and fair recruitment process in the government job market by making the NSSB functional in the State.”
It further lauded the State Government for the assurance to address the lacunas within the NSSB Regulation 2020 before the next cycle of examination.
The NSF also conveyed its gratitude to the federating units and sub-ordinate bodies of NSF, aspirants, parents and the general public for their continued support towards its journey to uphold the “aspirations of the students and youth community and for posterity.”
The viva-voce for the CSRE 2022, which was originally slated to start from April 18, was postponed following the NSF call for boycott of the personal interviews until its ‘legitimate demand’ for reduction of the marks for viva-voce component from 12.5 % to 5% was met.
However, the resolution of the issue will pave way for the complete the process of the CSRE exam under the NSSB.
It must be noted here that the written exams for first CSRE were conducted across 111 centres in 13 District Headquarters across Nagaland on November 11, 2022 while technical exams were held the next day.
As per the Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department (P&AR), over 50,000 candidates appeared the exams and 1866 candidates were shortlisted for Computer Proficiency Test and other Skill Tests.
Out of this, 1368 candidates were selected to sit for viva voce for 650 post advertised.
