Posting in far-flung areas not punishment: Kiphire DPDB chairman

The felicitation programme in honour of the newly elected legislators under Kiphire district cum District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) monthly meeting was held at DC’s conference hall, Kiphire town on April 18. The newly elected legislators, MLA and Chairman DPDB Kiphire, C Kipili Sangtam and Advisor for Home Guard, Fire and Emergency and Civil Defense Kiusumew Yimkhiung both attended the meeting.

Addressing the house, the new Chairman of DPDB exhorted the officers to consider posting in Kiphire as a greater responsibility to serve the people and the government. He said that posting in far-flung areas should not be taken as punishment but rather take it as a blessing in helping downtrodden people.

Stressing strict attendance of the members, the MLA said, ‘action would be necessitated as per the norms of the government for the absentees.’ Urging upon officers to give their best service to the people, he cautioned that ‘any officers found irresponsible in duty will be dealt according to government norms and procedures for which he entrusted DC keep a check on it.’

Assuring his fullest cooperation and support to all HoDs, he said ‘we must all work together as a team keeping in mind the interest of society and district above all and make use of all available tool in our disposal to develop Kiphire.’ 

Speaking at the meeting, Advisor S Kuisumew Yimkhiung assured the officers to work together hand in hand to develop Kiphire. He maintained that for the success of ‘Aspirational District’ program, officers must give their best so as to enable the citizens of Kiphire to enjoy the fruits of development.

Earlier, DC & Vice Chairman, DPDB Kiphire, T Wati Aier mentioned some departments which do not exist in Kiphire and appealed to the newly elected legislators to bring more departments into the district along with the HoOs. 

On the sideline of the programme, the NITI Aayog award was awarded to Ditanvong Village Council for best performance in Agri Sector-High Maize productivity and producing quality, Singrep Village Health Committee for best performance in the Health sector, and Agnes Hosela of Kipongya ward Kiphire for best performance in the Nutrition sector.

The Book ‘Kiphire: Where Adventure Meets Folklore’ was also released. The book mentioning the tourist potentiality area including photos and stories was sponsored by Kiphire District Aspiration Fund and initiated by District Administration Kiphire.

Some important agendas were discussed and approved to be forwarded to the government.

The programme was chaired by D Robin ADC Hq. Kiphire while PowerPoint presentation was done by DIO (NIC) and Nagaland Khadi and Village Industry Board Kiphire (NKVIB).
