“Winning by seven votes was only through God’s providence,” said Salhoutuonuo Kruse, newly inducted Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture.
She was speaking at the thanksgiving programme held at Kiruphema ground, Peducha on March 14 organised by the NDPP 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency.
It may be mentioned that along with Hekhani Jakhalu Kense from Dimapur-III, Kruse from 8th Western Angami created history one being elected to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly general election. Besides, she also shaped history by becoming the State’s first woman cabinet minister in Nagaland in her debut fight.
Addressing the gathering, Kruse expressed her gratitude to all the electorates, leaders from various political parties in ensuring the victory. Sharing her visions, she sought their continued support and cooperation as she embarks on a new journey as their representative.
She assured that as envisage in her vision, she will give her best to serve the people of the constituency and the state in general towards a state of excellence.
She also thanked Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, NDPP president, Chingwang Konyak and Secretary General, Abu Metha for reposing their faith on her by allotting her the party ticket, and also elevating a candidate from the constituency to the Cabinet.
Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) president, Kepelhoutuo Chüsi said ‘we have created history by electing a woman candidate, especially so from a comparatively reserved area.”
‘With her victory, good days are coming on our way’ he said adding that others should also emulate this victory and elect abled women in the future.
Khrielievi Chüsi, campaign director while thanking the electorates for their support said the people will reap the fruits of what has been sowed yesterday. ‘The victory is not the end but the first step of a journey that lies ahead’ he said and sought the support of the people.
NDPP Kohima Region, general secretary, Kechangulie Kense appreciated the people for reposing their faith on the party under the leadership of Rio and Konyak by voting Kruse to her victory.
