Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The Clark Theological College has announced the release of ‘Digital Discourse in Religious Conflict: A Postmodern Reading’ a book authored by Dr Tinumeren Ozükum. The book was released by Principal of the College Prof A Temjen Jamir in a formal function held at Multi-purpose Hall, Clark Theological College, Aolijen on March 12.

According to a press release received here on Sunday, the author Dr Ozükum is a faculty at Clark Theological College in the Department of Communication. He did his Bachelor of Divinity (BD) from Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, Assam and Masters’ Degree from Gurukul Lutheran Theological College & Research Institute, Chennai and received his PhD in Communication from Friedrich-Alexander-University, Erlangen-Nuremberg Germany.

In this book, the author surveyed the ‘Impact of Social Media on Religious Tolerance’ by employing employed case studies of digital discourse in religious conflicts in recent time. Dr Ozükum discussed the challenges of religious tolerance in social media and identified the nature and extent of social media sites and networks. Theoretical work on postmodernism was studied because postmodernism encourages different and plural discourses that allow scholars to perceive more possibilities than a singular dominant discourse of modernity and objectivity.

With this, Dr Ozükum has proposed ‘risk-taking journalism as a new paradigm.’ Purpose of risk-taking journalism is to establish peace and contribute to the liberation of all people and promote life, the author said.

As per the release, the book is ideal for scholars who are passionate about digital religious studies; interested in investigating online narratives of identity and religion; and raising pertinent questions as to whether these narratives provoke tolerant or intolerant reactions, how digital content created and shared by citizens define and promote the interreligious dialogue, etc.

The book is published by Tribal Development and Communication Centre, Mokokchung and for review or other information, once can contact the following: +91 7085012907, it added.
