Elected MLA from the 10 Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency Dr Kekhrie Yhome attributed his success to the ‘strength of the people,’ and avowed to uplift the constituency.
Speaking at a thanksgiving programme at Naga Solidarity Park on March 4 evening, he thanked the people of the constituency for their love and support and for giving him the opportunity to serve them. The event also featured an entertainment session with artistes including Virie Solo, Keneisenuo Sorhie, Mengu Soukhrie, Whourie’s Family, Methaneilie Jütakhrie and Coloured Keys.
As a new entrant into politics, Yhome also sought the wisdom and guidance of the village elders and affirmed that together they would work towards the development of the constituency. He further acknowledged the NDPP, all the civil society organisations, women, youth, and individuals who selflessly contributed towards electing him as their representative.
He assured the gathering that he would give his best in the upliftment of the constituency and just as the people’s blessings were bestowed upon him. “Let me also bless you in return,” he said while adding; “We are one, let us work together.”
Salhoutuonuo Kruse, one of the two first women from Nagaland to be elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly also spoke on the occasion.
Highlights of the programme included invocation by Kezhakietuo Belho, Associate Pastor, Khedi Baptist Church; opening song by Lidi Kroko; exhorhation by Er V Neiba Pienyü, President, 10-Northern Angami-1 AC; a tribute by Coloured Keys; and benediction by Keduoneituo Yhome, Pastor, Phezoucha Baptist Church. Neingusalie Khruomo, General Secretary, 10-Northern Angami-I AC was the leader of the programme.
