NCP yet to decide to be opposition or support ruling govt in Nagaland

The high command of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is yet to take the final decision for its party in Nagaland to be either in opposition bench or to support the ruling government in the 60 house of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

NCP won seven seats in the recent 2023 state general elections in Nagaland.

The decision will be taken by the central leadership of NCP, said Narendra B Verma, NCP National general secretary/North East Incharge while addressing a press conference at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.

Verma, who is currently in Kohima, said that he will rush back Delhi tomorrow (March 5). He is likely to meet NCP national president Sharad Pawar on Monday (March 6).

Earlier, Verma held a closed-door meeting today with the newly elected NCP legislators of Nagaland including the state NCP functionaries in Kohima.

“We had a thorough discussion and that will be conveyed to National NCP president,” he said.

Verma informed that he had done the assessment and the same will be conveyed to Pawar and NCP High Command will take decision accordingly as early as possible.

The seven newly elected NCP legislators included; Namri Nchang (6 Tening), S Toiho Yeptho (33 Suruhuto), Y Mankhao Konyak (46 Mon Town), A Pongshi Phom (50 Longleng), Er Picto Shohe (32 Atoizu), Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe (38 Wokha town) and P Longon (56 Noklak).

Meanwhile, Verma assured that the NCP will deliver whatever commitment has been made through its election manifesto.
