Mokokchung, February 24 (MExN): The Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU), Mokokchung district has appealed for justice to the District Administration on the ‘cold blooded murder’ of Imkongjeba Kichu from Chungtia village.
In a memorandum, CSU President, Mangkoneken Ajem and General Secretary, Chuba Katila Kichu wrote to the Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner demanding for justice.
“The cold blooded murder of an innocent son has caused great unrest among the entire villagers at large and the bereaved family in particular. Therefore, it is our humble request to your esteemed authority to investigate the case without any bias and deliver justice to the victim’s family at the earliest for which the union shall remain grateful,” the union stated.
The Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU) also organised a candlelight vigil in memory of Imkongjeba Kichu who was allegedly abducted and later found murdered on February 22 in Chungtia village under Mokokchung district.
The service was attended by members of CSU, Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) and District Administration.
Meanwhile, AKM in its condemnation stated Imkongjeba Kichu was a bonafide member of the conference. It condemned the merciless killing between individuals without love and mercy for each other, and demanded the government law enforcing agents to find the culprits and give due punishments as laid down in the law.
Further it cautioned that “if any group, organizations or individuals try to hinder or interfere during the investigation process of the law enforcing agents, the AKM will find them and deal with them.”
AKM has also conveyed condolences to family and relatives of the deceased and prays that God’s grace will be upon them. It wishes that similar tragedies do not occur again in the future.
The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has condemned the incident where Imkongjeba Kichu was “brutally murdered by unknown miscreants.”
It condemned the inhuman act of the criminals involved and urged upon the law enforcing authority to thoroughly investigate the matter with full dedication and nab the culprits at the earliest and be punished as per the law of the land.
OKM has expressed condolences to the bereaved family, and pray that God may provide consolation to them during this difficult time.
The Ongpangkong Mungdang (OM) has condemned the alleged murder of Imkongjeba Kichu “which is against the Ao customary law.” The OM also urged the law enforcing agents to find the culprits and punish them according to the laws laid down.
Further, OM urged all village councils and citizens under OM to stay united so that in the forthcoming general elections, ‘our precious votes will not be threatened by untoward actions of various groups.’
