‘Need to do more to catch up with others,’ says Tech Edu outgoing director

The Directorate of Technical Education, Nagaland on Tuesday accorded a befitting farewell to outgoing director Er Mhaseto Nakro who will be retiring on February 28 on superannuation.

Describing the technical education as a “very important and sensitive department,” Nakro in his speech said, “We need to do a lot more to catch up with other advanced world.”

Nakro said that his service journey started in 1993, recruited through NPSC as lecturer. After 5 years serving as lecturer, he opted for deputation to power department in 1998 as SDO (Electrical) in Transmission Division Mokokchung for about 11 years. Then, he came back to parent department in the technical education in 2010 as Deputy Director. In 2012, he was posted at Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) as principal (9 years) and came back to Directorate in the rank of Additional Director and HoD in the year 2021 (October). Within a month’s time, Nakro got promoted as Director in the month of December 2021.

Nakro said that God guided him throughout his service journey. “Though I have come across many challenges, through the spirit of God I have overcome all and reached the status which I am retiring today,” he said.

He thanked all the officers and staff of the department for their unconditional love and co-operation during his tenure as director. Conveying sincere gratitude to the Government of Nagaland, he said “If need be, I will always be there to help anyone in any matters, even if I go from here.”

Meanwhile, he was optimistic that the new director Er Vipulhou Lhoungu will take the department forward.

Kenilo Apon, Commissioner & Secretary for Higher & Technical Education, Er Vipulhou Lhoungu, Additional Director and others also spoke at the programme. The function was chaired by Tiakaba Amer, Joint Director, Technical Education.
